Good Vibrations Festival - 2008 Moves to Brisbane
|
Following
the surprising decision of the
Gold Coast Council not to
host the
Good Vibrations Festival, the event returned
to its former playground at Brisbane's tropical Riverstage
in Brisbane Botanical Gardens on Sunday, February 10. The
Queensland
weather provided the perfect backdrop, the rain welcomely
absent, keeping in the spirit of this hot, jiving festival. |

With
music pumping out of the various venues, the Laundry
was the place where you were ‘expected’ to dance. It was
definitely not trendy to just stand and avoid bopping to the
beats of TV Rock and the other performers. Nearby
Roots hosted similar styles of music where you could
just get away with sitting on the grass if you so chose.
There
were bars such as the Cloud 9 Bar and B-Live
to check out. Brisbane’s ‘City Gardens Cafe’ was funkily
converted into the rocking Star Bar where many
punters drank and danced, celebrating the festive
atmosphere.
Some
festival revellers were lucky enough to witness the multi
talented acrobat performers, “Stay Pumped”. Earlier in
the day they started as drum players and you could only
marvel at their amazing feats.

Free 3
minutes massages by
Tactile Vision were organised by
Nokia to promote “Your Music Your Way.” The
volunteer garbage collectors were extremely diligent keeping
the Gardens clean and avoiding too much negative impact from
the festival. Another unforgettable sight was the team from
Rave Safe, who slightly resembled Ghost Busters,
cooling the hot crowd with water spray and promoting
information and assistance on safety and wellbeing.

Earlier in the day there was room for three happy attendees
to enjoy a game of Frisbee before the crowds arrived. By
nightfall, the numbers grew exponentially especially around
the Good Vibrations main stage where many enjoyed a
variety of national and international acts. Then the
time came for what the crowd was anticipating, the last and
remaining international act of the evening,
Cypress Hill,
also known as the loud and funked up Latino Hip Hop Kings
from South Central LA. A
fitting culmination to an exceptional day
